This £1.1 million scheme saw the construction of a new single storey Catholic Primary School within the grounds of an existing school.
The new build consisted of seven classrooms, specialist practical room, small group room, two toilet blocks each consisting of a male and female toilet, accessible toilet, cleaners cupboard, cloakrooms and store cupboards within all classrooms. Each classroom and the small group room had state of the art interactive boards fitted. The five classrooms on the rear elevation have sloping ash panelled ceilings and high level Clearstorey windows to give added natural light.
All external windows and doors are a ‘Hybrid’ system i.e. solid ash timber on the inside and powder coated aluminium externally.
As a planning requirement an acoustic fence was erected segregating local residents from the newly formed car park bays.
Classrooms 1& 2 have an acoustic sliding / folding wall which is semi automatic and can be opened to give one large classroom if so required. Incorporated in classrooms 1&2 and the circulation corridor are electronically operated roof lights again to give added natural light.
