All Saints Catholic Primary School
Nobles Construction beat off competition from 26 contractors from across Europe to build the new £4.7 million All Saints Catholic Primary School in Bootle.
Completed in June 2009, the 69 week project is one of the most environmentally compliant and technically advanced education centres in the country.
Its environmentally conscious features include; photovoltaic panels to be installed on the building’s south facing roof to generate power, a green roof system to allow vegetation growth, rainwater harvesting facilities to reuse rainwater, geothermal heat to generate hot water, a wind turbine and the use of natural ventilation to reduce energy usage.
The new green school will be assessed by BREEAM (the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) and will be one of only a few schools in Merseyside to achieve a ‘very good’ BREEAM ranking.
The second phase of the project is now also complete and involved the demolition of the old school building, and the creation of play areas, sporting facilities and landscaping works.
