Wesley Methodist Church

This project, completed in December 2009, involved significant alterations and improvements to the Grade II listed city centre Church. Situated immediately adjacent to the famous city walls, this 20 week scheme comprised:

  • new catering facilities to replace the existing
  • remodelled cafe and servery area
  • improved accessibility and new accessible WCs
  • new mechanical and electrical installations throughout
  • conversion of an external courtyard into an internal atrium / meeting room with 8m x 5m glazed rooflight.
  • renewed finishes throughout

Due to its city centre location and extremely restricted site working space, particular care was taken to create a robust and adaptable construction phase Health and Safety plan to ensure the continued safety of all who were affected by the works. A detailed phasing plan was put into place to allow as much of the church as possible to remain open, whilst carrying out the works in as efficient manner as possible.

Completion was successfully achieved on programme, with this important church and community centre now fully reopened with vastly improved facilities.
